You have heard that it was said, “Love thy neighbor as thy self.” But I say unto thee “Love thy neighbor as thou lov’st thine dog, and all shall be fine in this world.” -Kylee Smith
Dear Diary, this morning one of the little girls called out to me, “Can I go see the puppy?” A little boy followed in her footsteps by begging to go pet the animal. “No.” I gently replied. Though it broke my heart to say so. I knew the animal was working and therefore could not be bothered. “Return to your painting” I had to say to the children, who were still gazing at the gentle animal. I wanted to greet the creature myself, but, after all, we were in the park for a children’s art workshop. I could not have the kids gawking after every canine that pranced it’s way through the grass, even if I was totally doing it myself. I wondered as I glanced between the retreating kids and the canine about what exaclty it is that draws us to animals. I then studied how the handler interacted with the creature, and how the animal responded to sublte cues without effort and seemingly with pleasure. You would have been amazed at what I saw, dear diary, because I could feel the connection from across the park. They were partners, yes, but more that that, they were friends. What a morning it was diary of mine, I shall write again next time. – Kylee
P.S. Above is a little poem and a quick pastel I just did up while reminising.

In this entry the young woman is recounting a story from her day. It is an event that many of might have experienced in our lifetime. However, she Draws the reader in deeper as she gives a new look at the interaction and what it could mean. The reader can also clearly see how this topic, that of the human-animal connection, can be so beautifully poetic. She showcases both an original poem, and an original "pastel" sketch. (The pastel sketch was created on a computer by the author of this website who owns the copyright thereof).
